Forgedown collects nothing, transmits nothing, and has no network access. Your files are rendered on your device and go nowhere.
There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no iCloud or other sync. The App Store privacy label is genuinely empty — Data Not Collected, every category.
This website sets no analytics cookies and makes no third-party requests. Its fonts are served from this domain rather than a font CDN, so visiting these pages tells nobody but our host that you were here.
Don't take our word for it
Forgedown has no network entitlement. That isn't a policy we promise to keep — it's a capability the app was never granted, and macOS will not let it reach the network without one. You can check the shipping build yourself:
codesign -d --entitlements - /Applications/Forgedown.appThe app requests only the sandbox, read/write access to files you choose, and a bookmark so it can remember the folder you granted (that's what makes relative-path images work). There is no com.apple.security.network.client, and there never will be.
Folder access
When a document references an image beside it, Forgedown asks your permission to read that folder, and remembers your answer so it needn't ask again. That permission stays on your device. Nothing about the folder, the files, or their contents is sent anywhere — there is nowhere for it to be sent.
